Writing

Alyssa has been writing books since 7th grade, where they filled the whole of a small notebook with a complicated plot that engaged teachers and classmates alike. They loved creating something so important, and bringing others into the same world by sharing it.

Becoming a Book Coach has made them approach their own writing process in a completely different way, one that has revolutionized their time and energy towards writing. Alyssa has written a novel titled I, Ophelia (a retelling of Hamlet from Ophelia’s POV), and is working on publishing a short story and a novella.

Art & Comics

Before Alyssa wrote, they drew, and if there was anything possibly more exciting for them than writing a story, it was seeing it come to life on a page. In their junior year of high school they were accepted into a pre-college cartooning program at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, and spent 3 weeks in sleepless bliss working hard on a 10 page comic they loved. Alyssa ended up moving to a different college for long term study, but still continues their journey with comics and comic book development, and has worked extensively to hone skills in both.

Classical Fencing

Alyssa started their journey with the martial art of fencing in the fall of 2014 at SUNY Purchase where they met their teacher Jared Kirby. While in college they created their own major in Classical Fencing, and have continued their studies with Maestro Kirby and the Martinez Academy of Arms.
